The Adult Man Vs Feature Image

The Vessi Everyday MOVE is a big upgrade if you put in miles through your daily commute (or if you like to go on long walks through the city). The added arch support and cushion, plus the redesigned ergonomic sole makes long walks significantly less impactful on your feet.

The Vessi Everyday Sneaker, like the MOVE, is 100% waterproof and stays extremely breathable, which is really unique. The Everyday Sneaker has a more classy minimal design than the MOVE, though the MOVE has several tweaks throughout the midsole and outsole that make it more comfortable if you’re on your feet a lot.

Pros:

  • Added arch support
  • Added heel cushion and ergonomic design
  • A fourth set of eyelets for added foot security
  • Classic and fairly minimalist design
  • Can act as a slip on shoe
  • 100% waterproof like the MOVE

Cons:

  • Slightly larger than the Everyday Sneaker due to the added support and cushion of the sole
  • Compared to the MOVE, it has a slightly heavier sole and the midsole doesn’t transfer energy quite as well---they’re still comfortable but don’t perform as well on long walks

It’s rainy season.

And as much as I like to wear leather sneakers and boots, when there’s a downpour, I just want something that’ll keep my feet dry and stay comfortable.

That actually used to be a tough proposition.

But a few months ago, I picked up a pair of Vessi Weekend Sneakers. I was really surprised at how breathable the sneakers were, and they did a great job keeping a few heavy North Carolina downpours off my socks.

After that experience with the brand, I decided to pick up another pair. But I was faced with a choice: the Vessi Everyday Sneaker, or their more recent Everyday MOVE. I dove into the differences and decided to lay them out in plain English so you can decide which of these two sneakers you should get.

Vessi Everyday MOVE vs Everyday Sneaker

Vessi Everyday Sneaker

The Everyday Sneaker is the flagship Vessi shoe. They launched this sneaker with their patented Dyna-Tex fabric, which has pores so small that water isn’t able to enter, though heat and moisture are able to escape.

The Everyday Sneaker has a minimal design that matches well with a variety of styles.

Pros:

  • The minimal design makes this sneaker extremely versatile. It’s classy enough to fit into most modern office dress codes.
  • The patented knit fabric means there’s no waterproof coating, so the waterproofing won’t wear out.
  • The lightweight and grippy sole performs well in the rain.

Cons:

  • Vessi only offers full sizes, and I recommend going the larger size if you’re a half size.

Vessi Everyday MOVE

The Everyday MOVE is a redesign of the Everyday Sneaker. Probably the biggest change in the sneaker is the addition of Vessi’s proprietary VZERO2 midsole.

It’s not like the Everyday Sneaker was uncomfortable, but the Everyday MOVE adds a lot more support and cushion, and is ergonomically designed to transfer energy from your step through your foot to propel you forward.

All of these design tweaks don’t make too much of a difference when you’re walking from the parking lot to the office, but if you regularly walk a mile or more in a day, the steps add up and you’ll feel a huge difference.

Pros:

  • The Everyday MOVE is super lightweight and the structure helps propel you forward as you walk, making for an extremely comfortable experience.
  • The addition of a fourth eyelet helps keep your foot more secure, which is really helpful if you’re biking or walking long distances.
  • The grip on the sole is improved, with variable rubber zones on the bottom to balance grip and durability.

Cons:

  • Stylistically, the MOVE is a little more “futuristic,” and not quite as classic looking as the Everyday Sneaker.

Knit Texture

Vessi Everyday MOVE sneaker top down view

Both the Vessi Everyday Sneaker and the Everyday MOVE use the same Dyna-Tex knit fabric for their uppers, but the texture on each is completely different.

The Everyday Sneaker has a minimal design without any variation across the upper.

The Everyday MOVE, in contrast, has a sort of cross-hatch in the toe and a series of lateral ribs designed to wick water down and away from the shoe.

This design difference isn’t really something I think people would notice from a distance, but the added texture gives the MOVE a little added boost in the breathability department.

Personally, I like the simpler design of the classic Everyday Sneaker upper knit as it looks a bit more versatile.

Eyelets

The Everyday MOVE has a fourth set of eyelets not found on the Everyday Sneaker.

This adds another level of security and is a noticeable boost if you regularly ride a bike or do a ton of walking for your daily commute.

It may not seem like a huge difference, but having a fourth eyelet helps keep your heel set back in the sneaker, leading to less rubbing and a more efficient transfer of movement.

Also note the design differences between the Everyday MOVE and the Everyday Sneaker. The MOVE is a lot more stylized and looks “futuristic.” The Everyday Sneaker, however, has a much simpler design.

Sole

While the two soles don’t necessarily appear any different, the midsole and outsole on the MOVE is significantly lighter and transfers energy in a more ergonomically advanced way.

In plain English? It’s easier to walk longer distances with the Everyday MOVE

While the Everyday Sneaker is comfortable enough to be worn every single day, Vessi upgraded their midsole to be even lighter and more durable. Beyond that, they slightly changed the shape to offer more arch support, which sneakers typically lack.

On the outsole, Vessi moved from a flatter bottom to a more rounded shape, which helps propel you forward a bit with every step.

Vessi also upgraded the grip on the outsole, adding an additional compound rubber in certain zones. Basically, the rubber is more grippy along the heel and ball of your foot so you have the maximum amount of traction in the rain. The rest of the outsole is made with a harder compound rubber for more durability.

Overall, when you add up all those subtle design tweaks, the Everyday MOVE is a more comfortable sneaker for walking distances above two miles (or four kms).

Vessi Everyday MOVE vs Everyday Sneaker : Which is Best for You?

There’s really only one reason why I’d recommend the Everyday Sneaker over the Everyday MOVE: the eyelet system and knit texture.

I think the Everyday Sneaker has a classier minimal design that goes well with jeans and chinos and can fit easily into a modern office dress code (unless your office is business casual). The knit texture is uniform and simple.

The MOVE has more stylized eyelets and the knit upper is far more variable, with lateral ribs that sweep rain off your shoe automatically.

Both sneakers are comfortable, but there’s a noticeable difference with the Everyday MOVE. Because of the new and improved midsole and sole, it’s even lighter and more supportive.

This makes walking three or more miles (4-5km+) a breeze.

Between the two, I picked up the Everyday MOVE because the stylistic differences weren’t as important to me as the long-distance comfort. I do a lot of walking, and having the extra support is a big boost.
