As much as I work out and try to stay in shape, I’m just not a supermodel. Yes, it would be nice, but maintaining a busy schedule doesn’t give me time to keep track of my macros or hit the gym every day. It seems like none of the clothes from the most common brands were designed for me.

You’ve probably been in the same situation: You shop from a brand expecting to look like the guy in their magazine ad, but then you try it on and your confidence shrinks. In this review, I check out Perk Clothing, a brand that only offers 100% Pima cotton chinos and tees designed to be form-flattering and to help you gain confidence in your body shape.

Bottom line: Perk clothing takes the guesswork out of creating a simple, good-looking outfit. The look of their Feel Good Chino and Feel Good Tee is flattering and the color options pair nicely with anything. While the stretch fabric of the chinos provides easy movement, it could be a little softer to provide more comfort.

Pros:
  • Various colorways that are easy to match
  • 3% stretch that is adaptable without looking like ‘athleisure’
  • Extra room in the crotch for comfort while seated
  • Flattering cuts that complement male features
Cons:
  • Tighter fit compared to straight-leg or tapered pant styles
  • Chino fabric feels slightly rough even after multiple washes
  • T-shirt’s thinner fabric can be revealing

My company has increased our mandatory in-office days since I started, and the business casual side of my wardrobe has stagnated.

Commuting from Manhattan to Queens is no short commute, so any way I can save time getting ready helps keep my morning routine brief and on track.

My biggest time sink? Choosing what to wear. Working for a fashion retailer means I need to look the part. A wrinkly button-up and a dated pair of slacks are not going to cut it.

Crafting an outfit that is stylish, professional, and versatile to my body type is challenging with what few options I have in my closet.

Perk Clothing’s mission is to offer timeless clothing basics that are tailored to the average guy’s form—not some unrealistic vanity standard. But are they successful in their efforts?

Keep reading to find out.

What Is Perk Clothing?

View this post on Instagram

Perk Clothing is a menswear brand that aims to deliver three things: great fit, great quality, and great design.

Shopping for every part of an outfit at one store can be unproductive. You try on a bunch of things only to find that each item is just okay. The pants you picked fit well, but the material is stiff. A shirt comes in your favorite color, but the sleeves are loose. They’re a jack of all trades, but a master at none.

Instead of offering a wide range of garments, Perk sinks their teeth into two key products, their Feel Good Chinos and Feel Good Tees

Have you ever shopped at a trendy menswear retailer that markets its product with shirtless, chiseled hunks posing in the newest pair of ripped denim? Perk Clothing understands that the average male shopper isn’t rocking low-rise jeans and a V-neck so tight that you can see your abs through it.

Their apparel has undergone many iterations to create a fit that is flattering yet functional.

Postage on returns and exchanges are covered, and both can be done up to 100 days from the date of delivery. They also offer free US shipping on all orders. Pretty, pretty good.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Finding tops and bottoms that are comfortable, built to last, and suited for your build seems like a hopeless quest. While Perk’s benefits might sound enticing, there are a few things to cover before you open your wallet.

If you’re someone who likes clothes that are suited for the office, date night, or other casual settings, Perk might be for you. Their product lineup is also great if you gravitate towards minimalist attire that is easy to match with other things you own.

However, if your line of work is active or exposes you to the elements, these won’t be the best option since they’re not designed for serious wear and tear.

Perk Pants Review: The Feel Good Chinos

The Adult Man Perk Clothing Feel Good Chino Black on Steps

A nice pair of pants can make or break an outfit. Too loose, and you’ll look like a used car salesman. Too skinny and people will think you left the house wearing thermal underwear.

The Feel Good Chinos promise a flattering appearance without sacrificing comfort or quality. Do their claims hold water? I tested them out so you can make the right choice for yourself. Let’s dive in.

Fit

The Adult Man Perk Clothing Feel Good Chino Grey Rear

Most of your satisfaction in a pair of pants boils down to the fit.

For context, I am 6’1” with a moderate build, so I went with the 33” waist and a 32” inseam.

The first thing I noticed about these chinos is how they compliment my rear end. I take my glute exercises seriously, so any pair of pants that showcase my hard work is a welcomed addition to my pant drawer.

For me, the length of the pants is also perfect. In the past, I’ve been disappointed with pants that fall a couple of inches above my ankle and leave much of my sock exposed. The waist sits comfortably at the hip making the pant legs fall just above my shoes.

The waist on the Feel Good Chinos are a bit tight for me. Depending on the brand, my pant size ranges anywhere from 32” to 34”, so I thought the 33” would be a happy medium.

Even after several wears, the waist didn’t loosen. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t feel suffocated, but I could tell that they fit snugly compared to other 33” pants that I own. If you’re someone with an athletic or stockier build, I recommend going up a size in the Feel Good Chino

If you prefer ample room in the leg, the slim fit of the Feel Good Chino might be narrower than you like. Luckily, the 3% spandex makes them adaptable to any shape so they won’t be uncomfortably tight through the leg.

Feel

The Adult Man Feel Good Tee Black Stride

Perk says that the 100% Pima Cotton gets softer over time, so I wore these pretty regularly for two weeks to see how the fabric responds to each use.

I washed these pants twice and even after a couple weeks of wear, the fabric still felt a bit rough on the inside.

Despite this, the 97% cotton and 3% spandex makeup of the fabric give these a forgiving feel when sitting or standing.

Pants that are too stiff bunch up in the crotch area, which can be irritating when you take a seat. If you work in an office, the stretchy fabric takes away the hassle of having to readjust after popping a squat.

Quality of Construction

A stylish, fitted pair of pants are great. But what good are they if they don’t last a long time?

Among the benefits these pants bring to the table, quality is a strong suit.

My first clue that these were well made was the inside waist. The patterned fabric that’s stitched to the interior opening of the pants is a cool detail and adds a premium feel to the appearance of the Feel Good Chino.

Even with tightness in the waist, the buttons come with a robust stitch that will last a long time. Perk’s decision to add a bag of backup buttons is a nice touch as well, as I’ve seen this become less common with new pants in the market.

The zipper felt a tad loose, but this could also be from the pants running small on me. Either way, it was noticeable.

Overall, the stitching throughout felt stable and I didn’t notice any loose threads out of the box or after repeated wears.

Perk Feel Good Tee Review

The Adult Man Perk Clothing Feel Good Tee Sky Blue On Wall

A good T-shirt is the backbone of any man’s wardrobe, but not all of them are created equally.

For a T-shirt to be truly exceptional, it must be soft enough to sleep in, fitted enough to wear as a standalone top, and durable enough to withstand perspiration and friction.

Besides chinos, the Feel Good Tee is the only other product that Perk makes. That must mean that they’re the real deal, right? Let’s find out.

Fit

I’m going to come right out and say it. The fit of the Feel Good Tee makes it my favorite t-shirt to date. Let me explain.

A sleeve that fits firmly around the bicep is what makes a decent-looking shirt into an amazing one. Rather than dedicating hours at the gym to dumbbell curls to fill out your current shirt sleeves, choosing shirts with sleeves that snugly fit the upper arms will accentuate your muscles much more effectively than a complicated workout routine.

That doesn’t mean I forgo working on my arms, but I’m certainly no Arnold Schwarzenegger. The sleeves on my size medium Feel Good Tee really emphasize my arms and give me a nice confidence boost.

The only unfortunate aspect of the tee was the sizing on the large. I ordered both medium and large as I usually land somewhere in the middle. Perk’s large size was definitely roomier than I like. It still fits, but just keep in mind it may be best to size down a little bit if you like a more snug fit.

Another thing I like about the Feel Good Tee’s fit is the length. It’s long enough to be tucked into pants without falling out but short enough to be worn untucked while maintaining the fitted style of the shirt.

Feel

The Adult Man Perk Clothing Sky Blue Feel Good Tee

The Feel Good Tee boasts 100% Peruvian Pima cotton, which is luxuriously soft.

Perk also mentions in their product details that the shirt gets softer with time. Hard to believe, as it was soft right away. I understood what they meant once it returned from its first trip to the laundromat because the cotton became smoother from the agitation in the wash.

Even the comfiest tee can be ruined by a scratchy, irritating hang tang though. Perk avoids this common issue and opted for printed interior brand and sizing info, and is done so in a way that makes the text invisible from the outside of the shirt.

If I could change one thing about the Feel Good Tee, I would make the fabric thicker. I found that during chillier evenings, the thin fabric left little to the imagination when my chest responded to the lower temps. Not a deal-breaker, but a more substantial fabric would hide pointy nips when they arise.

The comfort the brushed cotton provides at this price point is hard to beat. With this in mind, the 14 different color options mean you can stock up on a variety of colorways to keep things exciting.

Quality of Construction

The Adult Man Perk Clothing Feel Good Tee Sky Blue

I wear t-shirts more than any other type of top. If you catch me working out, running errands, or traveling, I’m probably wearing a tee. But, this versatility comes at the price of undergoing more abuse.

During the two weeks I wore my Feel Good Tees, I wasn’t pulling any punches in putting them to the test. I wore them on long runs in Central Park, beach walks on Long Island, and under a jacket while exploring the city.

My favorite way to elevate a tee shirt is by wearing a blazer over it, but the tee shirt must be crisp to achieve a professional look. My Sky Blue Feel Good Tee has gone through four wash cycles, and the non-pilling fabric is holding up effortlessly.

Typically, the first thing to go on a t-shirt is the collar. Once a tee develops a flimsy, curled collar, that means it’s time to be decommissioned. The Staysmooth™ crew neck hasn’t shown any sign of wilting, but I’m interested in seeing how long it maintains shape since I’ve only worn mine for two weeks.

I’m going to come right out and say it. The fit of the Feel Good Tee makes it my favorite t-shirt to date. The sleeves on my size medium really emphasize my arms and give me a nice confidence boost. The 100% Peruvian Pima cotton is uber-soft and the Staysmooth™ crew neck hasn't shown any signs of wilting. I'm a fan.

What Do Other Reviewers Say?

View this post on Instagram

Reviewers praise the Feel Good Chinos for their exceptional fit, especially noting that they flatter the wearer’s figure without being too tight in the crotch or saggy in the butt area. They also appreciate the ample pocket space.

I did spot several reviews on their website that parrot my experience with the pants running a bit small, but I saw an equal amount of reviews highlighting Perk’s willingness to answer any questions related to sizing.

Reviewers of the Feel Good Tee love the softness and breathability of the Pima cotton. The consensus online is that the Feel Good Tee runs true to size, unlike my experience, but those that needed to do an exchange said the process was seamless.

My Thoughts Overall

What I Like

  • Fitted apparel that flatters the male features such as the chest, rear, and arms.
  • Approachable colorways that make creating an outfit easy.
  • Attentive customer service that makes returns or exchanges simple.

What I Don’t Like

  • Feel Good Chinos tend to run small.
  • Fabric on the Feel Good Chinos is on the rough side.

Who Is Perk Clothing For?

If you want simple, quality clothing and are tired of buying from brands that are designed for unrealistic supermodel bodies, Perk Clothing could be a great option for your body type.

The Verdict

Your clothing should mold to your style and body, not the other way around. Too many brands tailor their sizing to be for the most in-shape, hyper-athletic guys which just isn’t realistic.

Perk’s Feel Good Chino is a classic silhouette with modern styling that makes it a good option for business casual and casual settings alike.

The quality of the construction is reliable on both the Feel Good Chino and Tee. Details such as the interior printed fabric, Staysmooth™ collar, and extra buttons elevate the overall perceived worth of Perk Clothing. The fit of the Tee has made it my new go-to—it’s really quite flattering.

If you appreciate the convenience of easy-to-style clothing with added stretch for comfort, the Feel Good Chino fits the bill. However, the slim fit might not work if you prefer extra room throughout the leg.

Overall, I’m a fan of Perk Clothing. If you frequently experience other brands fitting too tight or too loose, I recommend giving them a try.

Because feel good, play good, right?

FAQs

Do the Feel Good Chinos run big or small?

Several reviewers including myself found that the Feel Good Chinos run on the smaller side, so consider sizing up if you’re uncertain about sizing.

Since Perk offers complimentary returns, you can also order two pairs if you’re in between sizes and return whichever pair doesn’t fit.

How should you wash the Feel Good Chinos?

Given that these pants are garment-dyed, there’s a chance they might release some color during the initial wash. For best results, Perk recommends turning them inside out and washing with similar colors in cold water, using a gentle, non-bleach liquid detergent. Dry on a low setting and iron as needed.
