Cartier just gave its fans in Milan something to celebrate—a sleek, sexy, special edition of its iconic Tank Cintrée.
The newest entry into the Tank artillery celebrates the 50th anniversary of their Milan flagship on 16 Via Montenapoleone, where the brand has been serving up luxury to the Italian fashion capital since 1974.
Let’s talk about what makes this edition stand out. Housed in a 950/1000 platinum case, the watch’s luxurious look gets a little extra sparkle from the ruby cabochon neatly nestled into its crown.
In typical Tank style, the case measures a petite 46.3 mm by 23 mm and a slim 6.9 mm thick. Even with its 30-meter water resistance rating, the burgundy alligator strap is so precious that even hand washing warrants taking off (with white-glove care, of course).
The design nods to the Milanese boutique itself. Roman numerals are the standard for the Tank line, but here they’re replaced with Arabic.
The “1” and “6” on the dial are highlighted in a bold red—a direct reference to 16 Via Montenapoleone—the store’s address. The burgundy strap pays homage to the Milanese coat of arms that depicts a red cross over a white backdrop.
Now, if you’re a fan of Cartier’s movements, you’ll be happy to know this watch comes powered by the hand-wound Manufacture Calibre 1917 MC. Introduced in 2017, this movement is as refined as they come, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and providing a 38-hour power reserve.
If you happen to be in Milan with a cool €39,200 to throw at it, you and 49 others could call it your own. Just don’t forget to save the receipt for the VAT refund.
