In the city of love, the 2024 Olympics are in full stride. Across the pond, OMEGA has airlifted the spirit of competition smack dab in the middle of Miami’s Design District Jungle Plaza.
The first day of the Olympics commemorated the 31st year that Omega has served as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games, a partnership that some might argue trumps the prestige of Rolex and Wimbledon.
Knowing how fiercely devoted watch enthusiasts are, who the sponsor is influences that argument more than what they’re sponsoring.
Central to the pop-up is a series of interactive experiences where visitors of the space can get a taste of the Olympian experience through the lens of OMEGA’s mastery in timekeeping.
The track at the center of Jungle Plaza even comes fitted with racing blocks and a photo-finish camera, because if Omega knows anything, it’s that mere seconds can decide between champion and runner-up.
For those seeking friendly competition, there are five pop-up table tennis tables, along with a playground designed for the kiddos to spend their energy as our world-class athletes are over in Paris.
Spectators, fear not—you’ve got bleachers lining the track for a front-row view of all the action. And while Miami’s palm-lined streets , there’s a chic French café and bakery dishing out refreshments, blending Parisian charm with Miami heat.
The real pièce de résistance is an enormous mural of Italian fencer Bebe Via. She’s gone 2x gold in the Paralympic Games in foil, and the behemoth photograph depicts her in a stunning duel before the Eiffel Tower.
Patrons can take the next leg of their visit over Omega’s Design District flagship located at 101 NE 39th St. to get a front-row seat at some of their latest releases such as the commemorative Speedmaster Chronoscope featuring a Paris 2024 case back produced specially for the event.
It isn’t often that die-hard sports fanatics and horologists alike can find common ground. This one-of-a-kind experience in Miami’s Design District Jungle Plaza is open until the closing day of the Olympics—August 11th, 2024.
