Thinking about shaving your head? The problem is, finding the right tool can feel like a gamble.

Disposable razors can nick and irritate, while electric shavers often struggle to give a close, even shave. It’s enough to make you stick with your patchy, thinning hair out of sheer frustration.

That’s where the Manscaped Dome Pro Package steps in. In this review, I’ll share my first-hand experience to see if it’s the ultimate solution for embracing baldness with confidence.

Bottom line: Testing the Manscaped Dome Pro Package felt like prepping for a future I’m not quite ready for yet. But for guys taking the plunge into full baldness, this kit is gold. It’s got everything: a shaver that contours like a dream, gel, aftershave, and even a travel case—because bald guys travel too. From my hands-on testing, it’s a smooth operator that makes ditching the hair easy and, dare I say, kind of satisfying.

Pros:
  • Ergonomic handle design feels secure and comfortable in the hand
  • Five rotating blades provide fast, close, and even coverage
  • Easy-to-clean magnetic blade attachment simplifies maintenance
Cons:
  • Limited versatility as it’s primarily designed for head shaving

It started when I was 21 with only a few hairs in my sink.

I chalked it up to stress—finishing up a college thesis and applying for an uncertain future in graduate school. But now, even throughout that summer, I noticed the hairs continuing to fall.

That was 15 years ago. I’m, amazingly, still not bald. But, thinning, I am.

We’re not at the point where shaving is necessary, but there’s a strong chance we’ll be there in the next five years. Manscaped took the men’s grooming world by storm with their products designed for below-the-belt trimming, but have since expanded to cover the whole body—including the dome.

In preparation for my soon-to-be head-shaving routine, I examined the Dome Pro Package to see how it fares in terms of design, blade quality, and ease of use to see if it’s worth keeping around for when my hair departs.

What Is Manscaped?

View this post on Instagram

Manscaped is a grooming brand designed by men, for men. Created in 2016 by Steve King and Paul Tran, the company’s goal is to change the narrative around men’s face and body grooming.

While we’ll be covering the head-shaving tech in this article, Manscaped offers a full range of grooming products for the body. Most notably (or infamously), are their trimmers designed specifically for the groin. Names like ‘the Crop preserver’ and ‘ball aftershave lotion’ generate coverage, some controversy, and make them the butt (excuse the pun) of a few internet memes. But, from what I’ve read, the product largely delivers.

Manscaped isn’t a company seeking to make a buck with cheeky (sorry again) names, though. Men’s health and hygiene remain the core mission of the brand. Testicular cancer is the most common kind for men ages 15-35. They partner with the Testicular Cancer Society to spread awareness and encourage men to check themselves every month. There’s also an option to donate to TCS at checkout.

Things to Consider Before Buying

The Adult Man Bald Man Scalp

I’ll state the obvious: are you bald? If so, we’re off to a great start. If you’re not balding, but you still shave your head, the Dome Pro has you covered, but it might not deliver the most value compared to a tool with variable trim lengths.

Perhaps you rock a skin fade, like I do for much of the year. It’s kind of annoying when it only lasts three days because the hair you do have grows pretty fast. This is a great way to keep it around a little longer.

Finally, Manscaped offers a 90-day warranty on their devices, which might not be enough if this is your first product to shave your dome at home and you’d like more assurance with your purchase.

My Hands-On Review

The Adult Man Manscaped Dome Shaver Holding Unit 800

For guys shaving their scalp, there’s no room for half-measures or lackluster quality. Trust me, I’ve tried enough to know what separates the heroes from the headaches regardless of which part of the body a shaver is designed to target. So, what are my criteria going into the Dome Pro Package review?

First off, a good head shaver needs to adapt to the curves of your scalp. A perfectly smooth shave is impossible without a design that hugs the contours of your head, especially in those trickier spots around the crown and behind the ears.

And let’s talk cleanup—because nobody wants to deal with a mess of stubble scattered like confetti after every shave. A design that minimizes cleanup time is key, especially for those of us who don’t want our morning routine stretching into lunchtime.

Finally, it’s all about consistency. If it can’t deliver the same close shave day after day, it’s not worth the space it takes up on the counter. Whether you’re touching up every other day or taking things down to the scalp weekly, reliability is non-negotiable.

Features and Performance

The Adult Man Manscaped Dome Shaver with Carrying Case 800 1

Manscaped’s Dome Pro Package is meant to tackle every part of a smooth and satisfying shave: a tool to do it, shave gel, aftershave, charger, a protective cap, and a travel case.

If you’ve recently accepted that your mane is on life support and it’s time to pull the plug, I think this assortment is a proper end-to-end answer to your new haircare routine needs.

The shaver handle itself is about the length and width of my ‘average’ to slightly smaller hand. Like the other Manscaped products in the lineup, it sits firmly in the palm and has a nice weight to it. Across the board, the ergonomics are first-rate.

Snapping the business end in is a breeze—much easier than on the Chairman Pro I recently reviewed. There’s a slight click to let you know it’s securely attached. It whirs up quickly and more quietly than expected. That’s a pleasant surprise, considering many of my electric grooming tools sound like jet engines.

The five circular, rotating blades fire up and you can start gliding across parts of your skull. Now, in case you’ve not noticed, I’m not rocking a skin fade at this point. But, if I were, based on how the shaver performed against other parts of my body, I’ve no doubt this would work wonders.

I tried this against my arms and one of my quads (the closest I could get to my head’s texture) right out of the shower. If you tend to perform your head-shaving ritual in the shower, the Dome Pro is IPX7-rated to combat water damage while submerged in meter-deep water for up to 30 minutes.

I applied a thin layer of the Power Shave Gel while my skin was still quite warm and it worked like a charm. After I was done, I just detached the circular blades (they’re magnetic, after all) and ran the chamber under my sink to rinse out any stray hairs.

The Adult Man Manscaped Dome Shaver and Dome Soother 800

With the bulk of the work behind me, I moved on to the Dome Soother. I haven’t used a specialized post-shave scalp cream before, but Manscaped nailed the formulation. It’s soothing, doesn’t give off a strong fragrance, and most importantly, it applies smoothly without clinging to hair follicles.

The Adult Man Manscaped Dome Shaver Case with Logo 800 1

Encapsulating it all is the hard-shell case, which is the main value-add here as opposed to buying the standalone shaver. I appreciate the minimalist design, and it could even double as a travel case with the interior zip pocket to store toileteries outside of the device, shave head, and charger.

At almost $150 retail, this certainly isn’t cheap. But, if you consider the cost-per-use against the not-entirely-unusual cost of a skin fade at a higher-end salon at $40+, the machine begins to pay for itself.

What Do Other Reviewers Say?

View this post on Instagram

Reviews, at large, say the Dome Pro Package performs well and does the job. Shared pros of the device highlight, well, the shave itself. Which is usually a good place to start. Customers and independent reviewers with far less hair than myself like how close it gets.

They say it’s faster than a regular razor, which saves quite a bit of time.

Cons of the Dome Pro Package include the lack of a replacement blade attachment. Some also say the magnetic attachment isn’t as stable as they’d like, but that wasn’t the case in my testing.

What I Like

  • The Dome Pro contours to every part of the targeted area for a uniform shave.
  • The handle’s ergonomic design feels secure in the hand—I’m not going to let this thing go.
  • Plenty of surface area coverage makes doing the job quick and easy.
  • A waterproofed design eases any moisture-related worries which is especially nice for anyone who shaves in the shower.
  • The Dome Soother, Power Shave Gel, and hard-shell case are worth the extra bucks over the shaver alone.

What I Don’t Like

  • With a ‘unitasker’ design meant for one thing, it lacks the versatility commonly found on other shavers.
  • I’d like to see an attachment for 1-2mm for very close-cropped sides.

Who Is The Dome Pro Package For?

The Dome Pro Package is designed for, and best used by, guys who want the feeling of a completely shaven head but don’t want to drag a razor across their skulls. It’s going to be easier and much, much faster—particularly in the back and other areas you can’t see.

The Verdict

I’m not a bald man (yet), but if I were, I’d recommend giving Manscaped Dome Pro Package a shot. From what I’ve read and how well it performs on other areas of my body, I have no doubt it’ll do just fine on my skull.

Further testing, I think, might be needed once I return to a skin fade haircut. I think the ability to do a little maintenance once or twice a week spaces out the time in between haircuts, and might just save me a few bucks in the long run.

Either way, between the Power Shave Gel, Dome Soother, and protective carrying case, this is nothing short of a win for any man who’s come to terms with his progressive hair loss and wants a reliable, all-in-one stepping stone towards rocking a bald head with confidence.

Manscaped Dome Pro package

After testing the Manscaped Dome Pro Package myself, I found it delivers on its promise of an ergonomic, close shave—even if I’m not bald yet. The magnetic blades are easy to clean, and it’s surprisingly quiet for how effective it is.
