When you’re a guy who shaves his balls regularly, you’ve gotta have some subtlety about it.
I don’t ever recommend going full Mt. Baldy. And as someone who goes to the YMCA and takes a shower now and again there, you just can’t get caught with your groin looking like a waxed pig’s ass.
I mean, I guess you could. But something about it doesn’t sit right with me.
Anyway, I’m all about groin care. And a new brand caught my eye: BALLS.
Apparently, they’re quite popular with the blokes in the UK, so I gave the brand a shot to see if the Brits can shave ‘em like us Yanks in the States.
What Is BALLS?
BALLS is a new brand (as of 2022) out of the UK that focuses on men’s grooming below the belt.
At the time of writing, they offer a Trimmer, a body wash, and a lotion you can safely use on your balls after shaving.
Compared to other brands I’ve tried, like Manscaped and Meridian, BALLS comes in as the most budget-friendly. The BALLS Trimmer is about 15% less expensive than the popular Meridian Trimmer, and is roughly 25% less expensive than the Manscaped Lawn Mower.
To me, the biggest question is: do they work? Because all the bells and whistles in the world won’t help if we can’t get a nicely shaved lovely bunch of coconuts.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Trimmer from BALLS
If you’re in the UK or the EU, you won’t have to pay any import customs for your BALLS Trimmer. That can be a significant expense, so it’s good to know up front.
I’m based in the US, and I also didn’t need to pay any import taxes or anything like that, though other international folks with balls may need to pay duties depending on where they live.
Other than that, compared to other testicle shaves, the BALLS Trimmer is the most simple. And I like simple. Because I don’t necessarily want a bunch of pubic-grooming paraphernalia scattered around my bathroom.
Simplicity works in BALLS’ favor in two ways: less stuff for me to lose (like the single adjustable guard), and that leads to a more budget-friendly price.
BALLS is an excellent brand to shop with if you’re looking for the best budget-friendly trimmer to use specifically for pubes. There are cheaper trimmers out there, but I wouldn’t mess with anything that didn’t have a ceramic blade. And there are more expensive trimmers out there, but in the end, you still have the same two shaved nuts.
BALLS Review
I picked up BALLS’ most popular products: the Trimmer V2 and the Wash.
After getting them, I hit the shower, shined my globes, and now I’m ready to tell all.
If you want to know how to shave your balls, I can show you how to shine your nuggets here.
BALLS Trimmer Review
The BALLS Trimmer V2 has a 6200 RPM motor. Have you ever handled horsepower when gripping your scrote? That’s a level of power few are accustomed to.
Ok, it’s not that powerful. But the motor is plenty powerful enough to get the job done for me.
The shaver I had previously in my bathroom was the Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0, which has a more powerful 7000 RPM motor. Truthfully, I couldn’t tell the difference in the lost 800 RPMs.
The Lamborghini of nut-shaving devices. This puppy has 7,000 RPM's of power behind it, which makes it the most powerful pubic trimmer known to man. Is that a good thing? Only one way to find out.
But if you’re a particularly hairy guy, or your pubic hair is thick, that upgraded motor may be worthwhile. For me, though, I didn’t get the sense that one performed better than the other.
The BALLS Trimmer uses ceramic blades, which are far less likely to mangle your scrotum. I’m sure we all had that friend in college who went downtown with an electric trimmer designed for the scalp and came out with a horrified look on their faces.
The blades are replaceable, and you can sign up for a recurring delivery of new blades every three months. Real talk: that’s too many ceramic blades. I wouldn’t sign up for the recurring shipment of blades for any brand. They just ship too often: each blade will last around a year.
The Trimmer is completely waterproof, so you can just leave it in your shower if that’s easiest for you. The charge lasts a long time, so I don’t find myself running out of battery ever mid-shave.
My favorite part of the BALLS Trimmer is definitely the adjustable guard. Some shavers I’ve gotten in the past have several different plastic guards, like I’m ever going to switch guards in the shower—heck no, I immediately lose those.
But with BALLS, the same plastic guard stays on, but it has preset adjustable lengths you can switch to. I don’t know why other brands haven’t thought of this, because it’s definitely the simplest and best way to get different lengths for your pubes. You know, really get some dynamics going on in the crotch region.
My one gripe with the BALLS Trimmer is with the dock. I wish it was also a charging station like on the Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0. The cord plugs into the dock, the dock plugs into the wall, and you just drop your trimmer in there and hours later, you’ve got a full charge on that bad boy.
But on the flip side, the BALLS Trimmer just uses a USB plug to recharge. So I technically don’t even need the dock, except for display purposes. More likely, I’m probably just going to throw away the dock, where it will likely make its way to the ocean and a 150 year old turtle will eat it.
Oh, and one last thing that might save a lot of balls. The Trimmer is equipped with a light in the front so you can get some perspective on those nuts if your shower is dark. It also doubles as an emergency light if the power goes out and your flashlight explodes.
BALLS Wash Review
The BALLS Wash has a nice, gently cooling effect because of the Tea tree oil and eucalyptus. I love the fragrance of the wash, and the scent lasts a decently long time.
I didn’t feel any film or sticky feeling after using the body wash, so it’s a winner in my book.
The lather is also solid, so the BALLS Wash checks out for me.
I don’t think I’d ever get the Wash on its own (unless you like the branding in your bathroom), but as part of a set, the deal is great.
What do Other Reviewers Say About BALLS?
BALLS is a young company at the time of writing, but they’ve still racked up an impressive 4.7-star rating with over 700 reviews on their site.
Scattered through any good testicle-shaving website are horror stories of people dicing up their nuts like a fine mirepoix.
I don’t recommend shaving your actual scrotum with any electric trimmer. The risk is greater than the reward. It’s true that ceramic blades (like on BALLS, Manscaped, Meridian, etc) will help you avoid castration, they can still cause cuts on your nuts.
It’s unrealistic to expect your scrote to remain unscathed if you zip it with a 6,200 RPM blade. So some negative reviews mention that their sack was nicked. But you will get that with any ball trimmer. I promise. I’ve cut my nuts with the best of them.
Instead, use the trimmer to hack the hedges, maybe clear a path down the gooch, but when it’s showtime and you need the fine detail work, go with a safety razor. Then Bic those boys as smooth as eggs.
My Thoughts Overall On BALLS
What I Like
- The adjustable guard is the smartest thing I’ve seen on a pubic trimmer, which is saying something.
- I like the light on the front: it helps a surprising amount if your shower is dark.
- It holds its charge for a long time, so you won’t get caught halfway through a haircut with no batteries.
What I Don’t Like
- I’d like to see the charger integrated into the display dock. Otherwise, the display dock doesn’t serve enough purpose for me.
Who is BALLS for?

The Verdict
The BALLS Trimmer is my top pube shaver for the budget-conscious. Compared to my experiences with Manscaped and Meridian, I can’t say that I really noticed a difference: they all shaved my pubes.
It’s important to note that each will cut your nuts if you let them. I don’t care what any pube brand says…I’ve been burned too many times before to fall for that “no nick” nonsense.
But I don’t take as much offense to that as many guys would have had their sack just been carved up like a Christmas goose. Just use a safety razor on the balls and let the trimmer do the heavy lifting for the crop and gooch.
Considering that the BALLS Trimmer has the ingenious adjustable guards, and it’s at least 15% less expensive than the next big brand, I’d say it’s a win.

FAQs
Is BALLS Trimmer any good?
Yes, the BALLS Trimmer will get the job done, and the adjustable plastic guard on the blade makes it easy to switch between lengths without needing to horde a bunch of small plastic pieces in your shower.
Is BALLS Trimmer safe?
Yes, the BALLS Trimmer is safe. But I never recommend shaving your scrotum with any electric trimmer. Every brand will cut your scrotum. It’s the nature of an electric trimmer. Use a safety razor for the balls (and take your time), and use the BALLS Trimmer for everything else.
Should I shave or trim pubes?
Trim the crop, shave the balls. You can adjust the length of the crop to whatever you’re
